Mark Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand...it’s told in a documentary-style format from the perspective of an old folk band, as they recollect strange events that happened while they recorded one of their albums. Definitely a spooky book and it’s a pretty quick read!

Josie The Necromancer's House by Christopher Buehlman, great quick read, funny and spooky. I really liked it.

Dan | The Ancient Reader The Haunted Hotel: A Mystery of Modern Venice, Heart-Shaped Box, Evil Stalks the Night, The Woman in Black, Shades of Souls Passed, Hell House, and The Haunting of Hill House are all pretty good and are short or quick reads. Whatever you choose, I'd love to hear your thoughts when you're done with your Halloween reading.

David - proud Gleeman in Branwen's adventuring party The Rose Master is a fun yet haunting ghost story! I loved it! :D

Lori Agree with Hill House, The Woman in Black and Hell House
Stephen King's "Pet Sematary

"The Amityville Horror" (even though author admitted they made it up
still very scary

and there are tons of wonderful ghost and/or horror story collections available cheap for e-readers. the masters, Poe and Ambrose Pierce and Lovecraft and Mary Wilkins Freeman and Dickens etc., the copyrights have expired and they're widely available
also lots of modern ghost stories available right now, I've bought several terrific ones including "The Greatest Ghost and Horror Stories Ever Written" -- I'd play on your e-reader because there are riches there and the great thing about short stories is the variety
Enjoy, Jillian! 🎃👻💀
