Well that was a lot of crying in one scene. And very awkwardly written too...

I am still stunned at how consistently characters from all the previous books reappear in this series. They don't just disappear, never to be mentioned again.

I can see what people meant when they said the tone of Cox's St Clares books was "off" somehow. This was okay (some people hated all her St Clares books) and the 'jealousy being experienced by someone who isn't usually jealous' part was well done. There was just some odd charactisation.

I wonder if this will be the pattern for all Allison's friendships, drama and then they leave and go elsewhere.

Turns out Janet's jealousy manifest in quite similar ways to Sally's, despite them being very different characters.

Vindictive cousin ruining a midnight feast? Similarities Cox. They're a bit too obvious.

Hmmm, Head Girl worrying about losing position if two girls who shouldn't be at the midnight feast are caught being there. This mirrors an event in another Blyton book, we see your plot repeating here Cox!

Interesting the different portrayals of jealousy and how it interlinks so frequently in Blyton's/Cox's books with spite. Jealousy is a key theme this book.
In MT, Sally Hope was the key character for whom jealousy was an issue and I will be interested to see if her experience of jealousy is similar to Janet's in this book. Neither are spiteful characters but moments of spite do appear with their jealousy.

Well Cox has certainly managed to maintain the male chauvanism from Blyton's original books. Carlotta should not have forgiven so quickly.

Oh no, school girl tension between Janet and Carlotta. I just realised this one was written by Pamela Cox, which is possibly why the characters are a little more introspective than in the previous books.

The way they choose head girls in this is interesting and confusing. It's good to see them choosing students who have obvious flaws to being head girl as opportunities to learn.
