It's been a sensuous journey so far.But there's a feeling of finality to the distance that exists between the author and her estranged daughter. The author comes across as a woman who has had a hard time finding her place in the world, her unfulfilled need for motherly love and approval having rendered her incapable of giving it in turn to the daughter herself.
