This book is going so slowly! But it’s 24+ hours long, and I’m listening with Kevin during dinner, 20-30min/day. Plus I went to visit my sister, and then holiday activities...
Anyhoo, we started with a brief intro in the Paleolithic, followed by a multifaceted examination of living in Mesopotamia, Egypt, had a stop in Mycenae, then Greece & Rome. Now Britain. About 6 hours left.

Anyway, we have now learned about daily life of the common people in the ancient world. So far we have been to Mesopotamia, Egypt, Mycenae, Greece, and Rome. Now on to Britain for the last 7 hours.

Still slow going. I wonder if we’ll finish this year...

I would say we’re inching along, but it’s more like nanometering. We got the 12th season of The Big Bang Theory and watched at dinner instead of listening. Plus there have been date nights, and now we’ve got Chicago for Thanksgiving.... maybe we’ll listen on the way up and back.

I don’t know what percentage We have finished. Hard to gauge with an audiobook.
As noted, we listen during dinner 5-6 evenings/wk, suspended while when I went to Texas. Resumed this week.
We skipped Lecture 7: Being a Dead Egyptian. I truly did not want to hear about brains coming through nostrils, storage of guts in canopic jars, or what mummification failure was like. Not during dinner. Barf.

I knew this would be a slow listen. We listen at dinner, a half, maybe a full chapter at a time. The problem is that we sit down together only 4 or 5 evenings each week, and even that is inconsistent. It has been a very busy summer. And next week the listening will come to a bringing halt as I am going solo to Texas to visit my sis.
I’ll probably listen to something else on the road...

We’re just a few chapters in, but so far the material is interesting. While the focus is on the common people, the professor does mention some of the “important” people as reference of when and where he is.
Now we’re on hold while my man takes his annual motorcycle trip. :-)

This is audio format — dinner listening/conversation starter for me and my man. It is 24 hours, 28 minutes long. It will likely take us a couple of months to get through it.
I’ll be listening to or reading other books throughout.
