This is enthralling and completely dry at the same time. The prose is beautiful but I wish there was more to the story. It's a historical fiction so I understand the author only has so much wiggle room with plot. I don't care that the characters aren't "likeable" or stuck within the confines of their societal roles, but I wish we had more of a story to chew on rather than summary of events with no build up
