It has come to my attention in reviewing my stats that I haven't rated a book 5 stars since actual 2017. What books do you have to change that before the year is out, excellent GR people?! I'm gathering my pile to take with me over winter break in two weeks!

Try Trust Exercise by Susan Choi. Painter to the King by Amy Sackville (haven't read it yet, but it looks very good). The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. Confessions by Jaume Cabré. The Big Green Tent by Ulitskaya. Being Dead by Jim Crace, it's wonderful. Normal People by Sally Rooney. The Light and the Dark by Shishkin. A Gentleman in Moscow by Towles. I haven't checked your lists, you may have read some of these.

The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa (though maybe a bit long to fully absorb in one month). I’d highly recommend “Basho: The Complete Haiku”; even if one isn’t into poetry per se, it’s fascinating, informative, and comprehensive, and Basho is considered the master of the form.
I second Basho's Haikus, they are fantastic. Laurus by Evgeni Vodolazkin is exceptional (it's taking me a long time just because I'm not reading it in french/english)
Wow thanks all for the awesome suggestions everyone!!! I’ve just spent a fun hour looking through them all and chasing them down various rabbit holes of history and fiction. PS Anna I love Gentleman in Moscow! So goooood. And Amy Sackville! I loved her last two and haven’t got Painter yet. That’s a great reminder. And thanks for the Book of Disquiet reminder, Joe. GR tells me it was one of the very first books I added when I joined this site in 2007. So I should probably do something about that! :)
Just picked up some Want to Reads from your list - thank you. Closing in on 80 books for the year and always surprised to see that only a few really rise to the top. From this year, I’ll suggest The Overstory, Girl, Woman, Other, and Stoner. Thanks for all the thoughtful reviews, Kelly.
