Eli reminisces on the time that the cows and the chickens for their food supply died off. He explains how much he misses food and how much he has wanted a real meal.

Eddy finally finds the courage to step foot into Eli's room. He explores around and he finds Eli's old laptop. He signs in with his old username and password trying to find connection to the internet. His mother walks in and she says Eddy can keep the laptop but not to tell his dad.

Eli is telling why he hates his birthday (July 16th) so much. He hates it because it reminds him of his twin that has been dead for six years. He says he hates it also because on his 8th birthday he switched all the tags on Eddy's (his twin) gifts and swapped them with his. He almost seemed(s) jealous of Eddy.

Eli and his sister Terese had an argument about their brother who died 6 years ago. I can relate to this because I've lost loved ones in my life before.

I like this book so far because of how the characters are so down to earth and that they can relate to someone very easily.

Just started The Compound and its pretty interesting so far.
