Tbh I’m not really liking this. The timeline is frustrating to keep track of and in general the writing is not great. I find myself rearranging the words to sound better in my head which is distracting. The story is important and it was chosen for my book club, so onward I read.

Okay I have criticisms I can't help it. The content literally gave me nightmares so there's impact but the writing is so so so so bland, as is the main character. If you can call that character. I'm sure there are other accounts of the attack on Pearl Harbor that are far more worth reading.

This is no longer a story I feel comfortable criticising, and I'm feeling bad about my previous update. I didn't really know what this book was about going in but I can see now that it's intention is not to entertain. I still find the jumping back and forth along the timeline jarring but overall I am very invested.
