this book is so uncanny, it is giving me chills. jamie fessenden would certainly write some effortlessly unsettling horror novels if they were so inclined. i also find the lore surrounding this book fascinating and can’t wait to meet tomte again (though i really wonder how a romance could bloom between him and ryan.)

ryan really, really is unjustifiably adamant about dismissing tomte.
i am always one for opinionated, unreliable narrators, but have great difficulties with authors who write about them believing someone is “on drugs” or might have “mental health issues”. i find it insensible and of poor taste. may this play as a starting point for growth rather than an introduction of character.
