Okay, I am trying to pick a book to read and I can't decide; should I re-read an old favorite, a book I think I'll like or a book I know I won't like so I can drunkenly trash it in the review? All three sound fun, thus I am torn...
Super difficult decision! I’d say a new one you think you’d enjoy unless you’re looking for a guaranteed easy night- then old favorite.
So, reading got abandoned in favor of me digging into why I love vintage hard rock/heavy metal but don't like the modern stuff (gotta love un-medicated ADHD plus booze). Me and my lady had a great time digging into the Internet for the mechanics of guitar tone and how it works. I had no idea how hard it was to make the "gritty" sound the vintage performers I love did. Also, wow...can you ever do some weird shit with electric guitars and pickups.
Anyway, the answer we tumbled to was "making (sound I love) is hard to learn to do, so heavy-metal guitarists stopped doing it and cranked up the volume instead".
Progress, I guess. :(
Oh well, it was still a fun learning experience and a great way to spend NYE with my lady!
