Just stopping in to say I loved the author’s note at the beginning!
The author warned of a few triggers in the stories including an animal death, which is like my one trigger and had I not been warned would have been detrimental (potentially) to my reading experience and review.

Okay, story one was a gore fest. Not my cup of tea but there’s nothing wrong with the writing.
Story two, I enjoyed - we get lgbtq representation and the author chose to frame the telling as a story within a story.
Looking forward to the last half!
