I found out that Lily is a mermaid but she is a cross between a mermaid and a sea animal because her father is a sea animal and her mother is a human. Her friend from high school wants to go to the dance as mermaids not knowing anything about Lily's other life. Lily also doesn't really like human school all too much because of the things they do there.

We get introduced to the main character Lily an we learn shes a mermaid, really likes bubble baths, and has a crush on Brody Bennett. She has a neighbor that likes to terrorize her and he spied on her in the shower as a joke. She is really shy when talking to Brody.
