Yuzuki notices the recipes that Youichi bakes from is of a woman's handwriting and he suggests a short trip where he brings her to meet the people who owned the store and the recipe book that he has now.

Seems to think that there's something off about Youichi - about his prospects, whether he has loans and stuff. Then Yuzuki suggests working out front in the store as Youichi has been managing it all by himself. Yuzuki's mum is then tempted to have some melon bread which Youichi tries hard to replicate. We get a glimpse of the past with Yuzuki's parents and then a fragment of Youichi's past comes around.

And the bread was so tasty, she felt so happy just from eating it. Yuzuki makes several more visits and then she blurted out a proposal for marriage with Youichi (the hero).
At first, he mistakes it for another phrase (as they are phonetically similar) but agrees after Yuzuki enlightens him.
Youichi visits Yuzuki's parents but her parents aren't keen to give their blessings and Mako, Yuzuki's younger sister...

Then Yuzuki went into a stationery store that also sells bread on certain days, she tries the bread
