Stoker laid down an amazing sense of heightened suspense and horror at the imagery present in Mina's retelling of her encounter with Dracula. It's all anyone who uses a fanfiction style character of him tries to recreate but is never quite the same. The text also has beautiful allegorical interpretations expressed by Allen of Dracula as a representation of an overpowering male authority as well as the anti-Christ.

Bit tedious in parts that are common of the time period/style that it is written in. Beautiful suspense of Victorian horror and great footnotes/endnotes/introduction by Brooke Allen to help understand the world and phrases of Victorian England for a modern day reader.
