Without sex, in which parallel strands of DNA can exchange pieces or “correct“ each other, animals might accumulate many potentially harmful mutations.

Doubling the current human population, as some consider likely, might be accomplished by near-universal vegetarianism combined w/ much fairer worldwide distribution fo food. Under any other circumstances, it would require capturing 80% of photosynthetic productivity (...) Our goal should really be in the other direction.
