The conflict in this book is character versus character. I have proof that this book is character versus character because in the story the main character Anna has a life in a town called Krakow, but because Adolf Hitler has control of Krakow Anna must find a way out and try to save her family.

A significant moment in this book is when Anna and Eric get lost at the beach. It’s proven that they both grew at the beach and it was a turning point for both of them because Anna and Eric learned to be more disobedient and to stay close to home.

The setting of this book is dark. The setting of this book is dark because everywhere people are beating each other and Jews are being forced to leave their homes.
