Oh man, more issues keep coming up. Tons of flashbacks in the middle of scenes, which are difficult to follow because the author is using the (inane) advice to get rid of past perfect tense. This book and I are not getting along.

Still struggling. Very little action and way too much internal thought, on just RIDICULOUS topics. "Would my parents be proud of me, even though I'm an assassin? Do you think I can get with this guy, even though I tried to kill his brother??" I'm hoping this isn't my second YA fantasy DNF of the year. :(

Struggling with this ARC. It's reading like a first draft in terms of the worldbuilding and character choices, and the prose is clunky. Fight scenes are wooden, POV isn't close enough, adverbs aren't being used carefully. I'll see it through to the end, but don't anticipate things getting much better.
