Ms Maddow deftly weaves together how the oil & gas industry attracts corruption, creation of oligarchs, turning backs on operational shortfalls and environmental impacts, and especially how critical it is as a one-trick economic pony for Russia.

I haven't watched Ms Maddow's show but understand she is a solid researcher and gifted story-teller. Still, it could be told more briefly and with less snarky commentary.
