One thing I can say about this author is he keeps the reader on their toes bc it's these are wildly unpredictable books. For every cliche the plot twist I see coming, theres at least 5 plot twist that I can't predict. Good job Wendig. I'm still frustrated about the whole Wanda story line. But seriously, great job here!

So close to the end, but it's so late. Will have to finish it tomorrow I guess.

U know I'm betting Wandas not pregnant at all. She's been a bit crazy and obsessed with Carl to an unhealthy level. Plus I think the maize witch did something to her. She did not infect her like the others. Early on the novel, she refers to strange feelings in stomach well before Carl cheated on Gwennie.

Wanda is the only character I don't understand or like in this series and it finally dawned on me why. She's freak'n crazy. Like in the beginning she like that stalker ex girlfriend crazy. Now she's becoming drunk on power crazy. The book is hinting Carl may leave Gwennie for her and he better not!

OMG. I'm realizing now that as short tempered as Cael was, he was somehow Lane's moral compass. Because now that Cael isn't there he's becoming a psychopath. Never would expected this to happen to him like this. I really like Lane. I hope he's not the new villain.

I really struggle to understand Wanda. She seemed to mature & seemed like it might sink in that Carl loves someone else. But no. Bc of this arranged marriage bs, 3 books in, she's willing to go as far as kill herself for a boy she doesn't even know. Is she that needy? Would she be doing this regardless of who it was? Sadly it seems like it.
