Okay the whole body identification thing is painful. SPOILER: IT DOES NOT TAKE WEEKS to determine that the bones of a FAWN are NOT a human. Any forensic field tech could've looked at them the minute they got to the "grave" and said "nope, not human". The bones of a fawn are infinitely different from a human! GAH!!

I think if there had been a focus on one or two of the bodies and mystery surrounding them it would flow much better. There are just so many small elements going on it feels jumbled and not cohesive at all.

I think there are too many different dead bodies with different story lines going on. They may all be connected in the end but they are all so separate and there's no detail to them so you forget about one until it's mentioned again. So far there has been 4 dead, 1 injured and all random. There are a lot of little side stories that are all crammed together to make a book. (Pt 1. Cont.)

It seems like conflicts between characters are settled too easily. Kurt struggles with his Dad over blame for his brothers death. They argue and his father clichely comes to him with an apology. I don't feel any depth or realism in the characters and their emotions.

I don't like Kurt at all. I just get the impression he is very whiny and controlling. I also feel like he's not completely faithful to Elizabeth.

I have not read the first two books in this series but from the portion I have read of this so far it seems this book can be read as a stand-alone. So far I'm getting a cozy-mystery vibe.

I had foot surgery yesterday and I've been in a lot of pain and miserable so I haven't read but maybe 1 chapter and that's it. Hopefully today will be better and I can read a lot more. I've been looking forward to using the weeks of down time to make a dent in my TBR pile and catch up reviews.
