Just finished the chapter on Mary Fields and Charlotte Forten Grimké. While I am enjoying the brief introduction to women I’ve never before heard of, realize that the book lacks something for me. It’s possible that this is largely in part to the age demographic it was written for.

Just concluded the first chapter titled Ellen Craft who was born a slave in 1826 Macon, Georgia and eventually escaped to freedom December 25, 1848. So far I am finding this to be a good start to my Black History Month reading challenge.
