Caleb wet his lips and said, sotto voce. “You know I said not to kill anyone? Doesn’t apply to Turner. Kill him any time you like.”

And my day just got worse. “The Candes will kill me on sight,” I drawled.
“Yes, we know. You murdered Turner’s sister—”
“It was a fucking accident.”
“They’re on their way.”
“So... I’m bait?”
Heading for the door, she patted me on the head. “Enjoy your last hours alive, Caleb Shepperd.”
