I picked up this book because I read Downham’s first two novels in my teens and young adulthood. I had no idea that I would be walking into a precarious situation that felt all too familiar. Lexi’s situation is different from mine but we share in common that we both lived with a controlling person. The mood of this person would cause all others to walk on egg shells, never let our guards down. Truly exhausting.
