Oakley is so sad. I feel bad for her although I'm not sure what happened to her to make her stay silent. Everyone at her school have literally no sympathy for her just because she doesn't speak. They don't take into consideration that she has clearly gone through a trauma.

I really don't like how this book ended. It ended with Oakley getting her dad into prison which was the good part because of the awful things he was letting happen to her but then because she didn't want to be in that house anymore, her mom said they were going to be moving away which put a cliffhanger on the book.

Oakley wants to open up to Cole but she is afraid to say anything because she doesn't want to get in trouble. She thinks her dad will kill her if she shares anything with anyone.

Do you recommend this book? Are you enjoying it? I feel like we have similar interests and wanted to see if you think I would like the book? It seems like a very sad and dark book considering the book cover and the description.

Could you elaborate on what type of trauma afflicts Oakley? Was it abuse of some type? Is the book really about someone who is intellectually disabled, if so that would be quite interesting. Also, I feel like having a character not speak would create distance from a reader. Would you say you made an emotional connection to the character? Or were you disconnected from the emotions of Oakley? Could you also elaborate more on the personality of Oakley? I would like to see what kind of person she is.
