Volume 2 starts with whatever they ended volume 1 with (Iirc, they protected a young boy from barbaric folks looking to use his talents in an abusive fashion; they also fought off giant monsters in the desert land; it ended with the boy opening up a dungeon entrance somehow or other, which we'll explore this volume).
They're in a Middle East type setting, with cultures and customs associated with the heat.

Starting this one today. Been a while since I read the first one, so I can't say I'll remember all the details. This story is basically about a Japanese guy who can travel between worlds when he loses consciousness in one of them... Even through death as he and his Elf companion find out when they're burned by a dragon breath. But they wake up back in Japan, and can travel back to the other world by sleeping.
