I couldn't get into book one of this series :( How is this one so far?

Honestly I'm not finding myself that engaged with it - the writing isn't creating much of an atmosphere for me, when there's a meant to be danger, anxiety or a sense of heat between the main characters it's just not manifesting for me.....hoping it will improve
