"He was correct. I needed the job... Neither of those things stopped my palm from itching to connect with his smug face. However, I knew better. Hitting men like DeMarco meant you had a death wish. I was tired of living my fucked-up life, not tired of living. God knew I wanted to hit him though, but instead of losing my mind and giving into insanity, I closed my eyes and counted until my temper calmed."
