So, maybe not everything holds up compared to my first reading of this book in middle school, or my second reading in my late teens. In particular I remember the prose being far better than it is. I think authors like Gene Wolfe and Patricia McKillip have simply raised my standards in that area to an unfair degree. However, the chapter where Narnia is sung into being remains one of the best things I've ever read.
