I assume the Strategic Air Command is in the US and at least it sounds like it's run by mostly US military. In All You Need Is Kill by Sakurazaka, the military is also US. Quite a bit of this story takes place in the US too. We're allies and the US is the premier military power in the world, so it makes more sense than in the PRC or Russia. But in 50 years we might see more Japanese stories taking place in the PRC.

I can suspend my disbelief with the detailed description of the nanobots. Now we've entered a new phase of the story and the pacing and scenes are much better now.

The first 20% of the book could be skipped--the blurb says it all and the emotional import of the character development of Shiraishi is practically nonexistent. however, her character development does get a little better treatment as the story progresses.

All right, finally getting good scenes.

A shallow romance but we got some great science going on: Maxwell's Demon. And... although the POV is still distant, the story finally gets solid scenes.

That was a well-done and touching scene but could've been extended.
