The beautiful and the sublime was a hot topic for this time period. Read Leopardi's poetic version, Kant's transcendental version and i have Burke on my shelf, which Kant claims is the psychological version.

Part Also Kant tells jokes! There are two joke in the text which Kant uses to elaborate on what is humour and what causes laughter.

Surprisingly both were new for me!

withdrawn But were they funny. I suppose I will have to read the book to find the jokes now.

First one made me laugh. But it also doesn't take much to make me laugh, i like simple jokes.

Yup, you will have to read it. It's going to be funnier if you have atleast spent a day with Kant.

withdrawn Immanuel (Manny when he’s in a good mood) have spent many hours together (rather fruitless hours from my point of view). He’s never joked though.

I don't think Manny ever joked in his writings, he may have told a joke, but joking a different ballgame.

I quite like reading Kant, I usually experiment with the ways i read a book. With Kant i tried the approach of anticipating his next move, and I am in awe of how systematic his critiques are, you read few pages, and you always know what's coming next. Some pointers..and off you go, think for yourself.

It's sort of a fun way to philosophize and be engaged without being getting into discussions with other people. However, I understand reading it as such has it's demerits as well, you barely get chance to contest it with our own ideas. Perhaps i can do that when i re-read Kant years later. But will i even have my own ideas after feeding on even more books.. that's a question better left unanswered for now..
