So it was with all the persons he encountered. The people whom he loved when at his best as a fine hoping fellow were so very soon, and through petty causes, to become nothing to him, and he himself was to be converted into common tradesman. And living seemed to Jurgen a wasteful and inequitable process.

hi miriam! i think i'm on the fourth reading! :)i just got back from a quick visit to new york yesterday and i managed to find another of his in a used bookstore, and then i went to mcnally jackson and used their expresso machine to get another printed -- i had to come back home so my dear friend patty is picking it up for me. :)
my facebook break keeps infecting my other social networking but i'm hoping to get back into the swing of things now!
