Still quite good, although I chafe against some the anachronistic ideas (the idea of 'oriental despotism' for example) and his naive views regarding American interventionism.

Excellent book so far. Critical of traditional creedal religion, especially Christianity, while acknowledging ethical advances that were made under the aegis of these religions. The author considers Ethical religion to be something that people of all races and classes and creeds can embrace and even criticizes Westerners for failing to reach out to non-Western peoples on this ethical basis.
