He wouldn’t give up. Not on her. Not on them. Something was wrong and he wouldn’t let her face it alone. That was what it meant to be mate material, dammit. Every time he thought he knew where they stood, some seismic shift knocked him on his ass and left him staring up at the sky. He needed to brush himself off and brace for the next wave, not disappear at the first sign of trouble.
