I read it several times in the last 23 years, but only now can I appreciate it fully. I have since learned that there's a name for being quiet and content on my own, opening up in only certain people's company: introvert. Pat is such a beautiful and endearing introvert character! I find myself crying with joy over the description she gives of her mother, also an introvert.
