I'm enjoying this book so far because you can feel Pound's ego and narcissism come through the pages. He was a born 'teacher' and this is his 'textbook' but he jumps so randomly from topic to topic that I realize he has a lightning-quick mind, like some of the Zen masters do / did. Philip Whalen for example. Pound loses me here and there but for the most part it's fascinating to me because he has the encyclopedic knowledge but he likes to mix in some slang and vulgar language in his own idiosyncratic way of teaching. One of a kind. Of course some of his ideas on politics, especially fascism, are pretty scary and crazy, but I gotta say that the guy had balls. He spoke his mind, unlike a lot of other pretentious poets of his time.
