Huh, so the author of this book and I grew up in the same town and also apparently the same ‘end’ of town. I picked up on it as soon as Greer’s variety and their Halloween costume displays were mentioned. And I’m thinking Tops is actually a reference to Taps and their chilli dogs. I am enjoying all of the familiar references and terms peppered throughout the story so far.
