My currently reading tab is so screwed up. I've been rereading this series over the last year or so and restarted this one around January or February. Maybe it's just that everything definitely starts to click more on the rereads, but Citadel is definitely the "easiest" (and I use that word hesitantly) to understand. There's also a lot of introspection and talking about past events from the other books, which helps.
