I'm of two minds when it comes to the depiction of mental illness. It's more than a little manipulative and sensational, and lacks restraint. I don't exactly understand how this comes to be an Alice in Wonderland reimagining. Alice is sympathetic but hardly likable. I wish her the best, I guess? There's some tropey chosen one stuff too. Why do Alice retellings always do tropey chosen one stuff?

Book continues to be provocative and undercooked + continues to have no apparent logic behind framing itself as an Alice retelling.
I still certainly sympathize with our protagonist, in that I feel really bad for her, but I wouldnt exactly say she's "interesting", or that I'm invested in her achieving her goals.
Hatcher freaks me out which I think is the point. By this point we've met Cheshire, who was fun enough.
