Ch 9 - enjoying the Spirit's Life.
"In this life Christians experience our new Spirit-inspired desires alongside our old, lingering selfish desires (Gal. 5). So we often experience the life of the Spirit in the form of struggle...itself a sign of the Spirit's work."
"Christ has bought you with his own blood and now he's sent in the Holy Spirit to renovate you. The blueprint...is Jesus himself."

Ch 11 - really taken by the author's re-phrasing of 'spiritual disciplines' as God's means of communion, emphasising the relational aspect of prayer, Bible reading, worship, service, suffering... by faith seeing them all as "opportunities to respond to God".

Chapter 6 on Grace. The author explains the phrase "busy doing nothing" very well, based on Hebrews 10:11-14, though some may find the phrase unhelpful and prefer the quoted thought of Owen who urges Christians to an everyday active 'laying down of sins at the cross of Christ', made possible of course only by the work of the Spirit.

Chapter 4 on hardship is refreshingly straightforward (based on Hebrews 12:5-11).
"...we don't have to tie ourselves in knots trying to interpret our circumstances. We don't have to be able to say, 'This happened because of this'. Most of the time we can't."
"God disciplines us to refine our faith, wean us from idols, unsettle our self-reliance, display his power and direct us heavenwards."
