I don't get the hype. If someone loves this book, can you tell me why? I don't know if the book is good or just Important. I may not be the target audience, but who exactly is? It feels like a book that people read and think, oh other people really need to read this--but they remain unaffected.

I loved this book. I found it surreal and strange, tense and atmospheric. It was horrifying and also whimsical. Heartfelt but also clever. However, a lot of people I trust don't love it, which has always seemed strange to me. It's like the blue dress / gold dress conundrum.

I've finally warmed up to it in the last tenth of the book, but I'm just kinda underwhelmed overall. I was hoping to be whelmed
