I'm not sure this is doing much for me. So far it's just a little too ... I don't know, vague? An Amazon reviewer said "He argues not only that our future will be urban, but also that such a future could be a wonderful thing if we build our cities around democracy, decentralization, diversity, and ecologically sanity." So far I'm not getting much out of the book beyond what's already said in that summary.

Some of these essays are really good, like the NYC one on the politics of crime. So refreshing in general to see writing about cities and policies that's willing to make explicit its radical connections.
