One critic said of Rocky. "I refuse to like a guy just because he won't break thumbs for the mafia." That's how this works. Crissa doesn't shoot guys in the head . . . but her henchmen do. She wishes it didn't have to happen, but . . . oh well.

I was curious how Criminal Crissa could gain our sympathy. Here's how. Yeah, she's a crook, but she's completely competent in all that she does. Fair treatment of her underlings. Respectful. Here, she gets mixed up with another crew of criminals (Led by Hicks) who are the opposite. They kill guys during the heist unnecessarily, then they try to cheat her and her pals. So, naturally, she has to exact vengeance

Crissa visits mentor in jail from previous crime (and novel?). Hicks visits buddy from Iraq who was part of a "deal" but is causing trouble. Best friend, but an ice pick comes out. Best friend's wife is collateral damage. Crissa plans "fake robbery" in desert. Fling with Hicks. Then planning with Hicks the fake robbery. Fast moving & well written. Things will go very wrong, I'm sure.

Crissa Stone is a criminal. She's taken on the job of "robbing" antiquities that are to be returned to their home country. The robbery will allow their American "owner" to sell them at a profit rather than returning them (under duress). Good start. A procedural crime story from the criminal's point of view. Will I be rooting for her to get away with the robbery? Interesting
