I really (and surprisingly, because it's not really my preferred genre) enjoyed this book! It took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. I want to finish the series. It was more intense than I was expecting, and i think I'd recommend for age 14 and up. I'm glad the author offered some closure and answers with the first book while still leaving mysteries yet to be explored in the following books.
