wild to me that the authors have no issue saying "Newton's physics is challenged by modern physics, but is still valuable as a foundation and context in history," but also are like "lmao wasn't it cracked when the church said stuff about science," as if church-framed understandings of the world weren't to Newton what Newtonian physics is to them???

the study of consciousness used to be really controversial in psychology. the behaviorists hated it, they considered it the antithesis of objective science

so weird! i can see something like "hey this is hard, don't know how to study it yet" but when there's more of a "this isn't worth studying" vibe i just can't relate...
