“She was falling, but now, there was a pair of arms that would catch her at the end, a warm pair of arms she’d always imagined but could never feel.
‘Oh,’ Pepper choked. ‘Oh, stars—’
The vox switched on. The face on the scrib was overjoyed. ‘Jane,’ Owl said. ‘Oh, oh, sweetheart, don’t cry. It’s all right. I’m here. I’m here now.”

Bah. As I recall, you were also concerned about me hating the first book in the series, even advising me to skip it, but I ended up liking it. Out of spite perhaps. Or maybe using reverse psychology on me was your master plan all along.
Well, if it works...Although I feel like I've seen some Long Way haters recently, so maybe I just automatically lumped you in there. So unfair of me. Mea culpa.
Well, I'm nearly halfway through now, so I suppose I'll have to give up hope of catching up with the book one crew. The book's not bad, just not what I was expecting. So far, I'm enjoying the past timeline much more than the current one though.
Oh yes, it's nothing like the first book at all. Which was a surprise. Honestly, it was kind of surprising it came from the same author. I agree--I thought the past timeline super-interesting.
