Parker's Back - my husband showed me the icon that Flannery O'Connor was thinking of in this story, so that helped to visualize it a little more. I appreciated this story and the clarity of the searching in the main character's life.

Judgment Day - I enjoyed this story as well. The main character's desire to go home resonated with me, and the story had a relatively happy ending.

Revelation - well written, of course, but I didn't find it to be as impactful as several other stories. Mrs. Turpin's revelation was beautifully written, but I wanted more.

The Lame Shall Enter First - this was the longest story so far in this collection. The different ways in which grief is shown was well done, and while not my favorite story so far, I did enjoy this one.

The Comforts of Home - didn't like this one very much. Seems like a cautionary tale about guns, though.

The Enduring Chill - another good story. The absurdity of the protagonist's illness and the interaction with the priest were the best parts of this story.

A View of the Woods - this is my favorite Flannery O'Connor story so far. The relationship between the grandpa and his granddaughter Mary Fortune is broken because of their unwillingness to bend. Lots of death, but I found this one very compelling.

Green leaf - I didn't enjoy this story much. None of the characters were that memorable to me, except maybe the bull. I think I like stories without death from Flannery O'Connor better than those with endings like this one.

Everything that Rises must Converge - I enjoyed this story. The son's perspective on the changing world was fairly bleak, and his relationship with his mother poor. The matching hat situation made the story for me, and his mom seeing the humor in it made her more likeable and the son less likeable. The ending was bleak, and while it doesn't say exactly what happens afterward, it does hint at a large change in the son
