Is anyone else a moody reader? I read about the first 20 pages in 4-5 books last night and kept putting them aside. "Eh, you're too silly for me right now. I need more." "No, you have disturbing stuff coming, I'm not in the mood to feel that." "Well, you seem good, but gah, no sex scenes right now. I'm cranky."

I'm like a picky kid at a buffet!

Hyzie I am exactly this all the time. There's a reason I tend to have like 10 books on my "currently reading" shelf at any given time, haha.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) Yes. Especially lately.

Lol! I don't even put something on my "currently reading" shelf until I know I'm for sure committed to it. :-P

Leigh That's me at the moment. I have about 5 books started and so many others I just dropped.

Yeah, that's the smart way to do it. Kindle lets me just "auto update" when I open a book, so I let it do that. I am pickier about what I add regarding physical/audio books, though?

True. It's been extra hard during this whole apocalypse!

Same. I have a pile of books on my e-reader that are like "7% finished".

I turned off my Kindle's auto-update. I felt like it was narcking on me. Like, dude, I'm not even sure I'm committed to this yet. Just calm yo tits!

That and my work is deemed essential due to some people living in RVs. But we have sold record-breaking units for our stores.

What do you do? O.m.g..... do you sell propane and propane accessories? Because, if so, that's pretty awesome!

That's one thing I sell, I sell RV parts, I am also the parts manager. We've been open this whole time and we thought we might have a hard time but last month picked up and it's still going. I also am what's known as a service writer. I schedule the service appointments and write out service work orders and do warranty.

Beth +1 here, for sure. I have 7 books on "currently reading" and have finished two audiobooks and two novellas in the last two months. There's something about being constantly reminded about illness and death that doesn't help with my reading concentration. :P

message 15: by Jemppu (new)

Jemppu Absolutely, I've come to realize. Sometimes a book can got down in a one go, and sometimes it just... won't. I like to liken it to channel surfing. Jumping around to see what fits which particular mood, and if something compelling enough happens along, let it take you with it.

message 16: by PrettyWittyBitty (new)

PrettyWittyBitty I end up rereading books when nothing else satisfies me. I do this probably more than I should but I have such a difficult time finding a book that grabs me and doesn’t end up irritating me.

I'm usually not a big re-reader, but I have started doing that during all of this. It is comforting somehow to read something that made me happy before-apocalypse.

message 21: by Apoorva (new)

Apoorva GODDDD HIGHKEY RELATING TO THIS RIGHT NOW. And then when I do actually read a book, it feels like something is missing inside me and I'm not at a 100% reading capacity(???) and just ugh everything is making me cranky

Haha! Believe me, it's not better to read the first 20 pages. I feel like I just waste time doing that and get more and more depressed about it.

Jen I can totally relate to this!!!I figured it was a full moon or something...but nope....just an apocalypse...wake me when it's over...sigh...:-(
Truly though, it is hard for me to concentrate on much right now..and of course I have been googling everything Covid 19 related so that tends to take up way too much of my time..LOL

So true! Everyone I know has been struggling with concentration during this time. Even though it seems like things are getting better now, everyone has that feeling of dread that there will be a much worse second round.
