The fact that Simon was making out with a much younger girlfriend in a car while his student was waiting on him was creepy and vile, there was no need. And they did seem a bit close, especially the wording the author used. Also, the way that Alex and Tim were interacting and kissing, especially when he told her he was leaving was much too smooth and grown. I HATED that stupid line, "So, let's get this party started"

I liked the theme of at least a little truth in a lie, but I completely understand how that could confused and twelve year old, especially when multiple people are saying it in different ways and then you have Stacy too. That's why I think her parents handled it so poorly. I see where the anger and frustration comes from on the grown ups side, but this is a child. This whole thing reminded me of the song Alyssa Lies.

Definitely a unique book, that I think most people would be too scared to write. And I thought it was done well enough. The juvenile voice-for the most part-read naturally. However, I was kind of expecting some big twist or a bit of a mental game. How would this school actually exist? There's no way?! Also these basic ass names are stupid. Stacy was just trying to protect Alex even though she went about it poorly.

It's scary to realize that when Stacy pulled Alex's hair and threatened her that that was probably a learned behavior from her father. I'm glad they figured it out, but too late. I'm also pissed off at almost every single adult in this book. First off Alex's parents. They kept pushing her into a toxic friendship. For doctors they never truly listened and then punished their kid for getting confused. They were shit.

FINISHED in One Night! A minor pet peeve. I'm guessing the author just wanted a hobby or something for her little characters because the soccer thing was Soo unrealistic. They played on a dirt field, no one ever practiced with them or ran drills until the very end, and then they go and beat a team with a field and goals who have a coach and practice? Maybe, by no.

Did something happen in the tent that night? Alex had a nightmare, but could it have been more than that? It's pissing me off that they're saying a 14 year ol has a tongue ring. I don't even think they're real, a piercing, yeah, but a tongue ring? Also, what's going to be the connecting factor between the patient of Alex's parents and the rest of the story? Maybe Stacy's parents are gay and one did die, doubtful.

Definitely should've realized that Stacy was lying. She's unwell. The way she attacked and threatened Alex was calculated. I'm thinking she's projecting though. Like the reason she sees the signs or reads them the way she does between Simon and Alex makes me think she experienced some kind of trauma, maybe that's why she says her dad is dead. Or she could just be an older kid that thinks she knows it all.

Alex's parents don't really understand patient/doctor confidentiality because they said the woman's name. Also, is Stacy this person's kid? Her mom is always late to drop her off.. are Tim and Stacy hinting that Alex is doing something to attract Simon's attention? Also, Stacy's intro seemed so unrealistic.

Or, this school is different, the mom has made a reference about Simon teaching like people qouldve decades ago. When I first started reading this school felt cultish, and our narrator seemed male for the first couple pages, I don't really know why. I learned Jehovah's Witness's can't get blood transfusions or celebrate birthdays. I somt understand how the school is legal, they don't have 9th grade, they restart?

I dont remever what this book is supposed to be about. Here's my theory though: it's about a 12 year old girl named Alex how is molested/sexually assaulted by her teacher and this is her telling her version of the story, that's why the school seems a bit made up. Like the rappelling and the fact that the kids explore the forest and don't seem to have the structure of a normal school.
