I've grown to enjoy the book. It helped that I read her goodreads interview, https://www.goodreads.com/interviews/...
I also read relatively small bits at a time. A chapter or two. We're looking experience deep in the face here - good and bad, important and trivial. There is love, trauma, annoyance, friendship, anger. All fleeting - for the time being and for the time beings.

This is a challenging book. I want to pitch it, and then I pick it up again. It doesn't come from the usual U.S. American mindset, nor even a general European mindset. Everything in all directions is just disaster and calamity, but described with a friendly, almost nonchalant voice.
So what have we got? Two main characters who are unhappy with their places and lives, and a Zen focus on beings' existence in time.
