The world is a mess right now and I don’t have the focus to really properly read this. So I think I’ll put it down for a while after I finish this (annoyingly long) chapter.

Look. I get that women were often expected and forced to marry young back in the day. But good lord this is a big fucking yikes. This is so difficult to read without attaching a modern perspective.

I’ve given up on keeping track of who all these characters are. Even if the book tries to remind me at the beginning of each chapter. It’s just not gonna happen.

I finally finished The Canterbury Tales. Can I get through this monster next? Who knows.

Genji is the ultimate Gary Stu. Absolute worst.

Genji is perfect. He is so beautiful you will cry. He is so talented you'll swoon. He can do no wrong. Even when he abducts children and forces himself on women, you must forgive him because he's just so darn pretty. … Ew.

Okay. Well that chapter was gross and I hope there isn’t another like it in this book. Now excuse me while I go bathe in bleach for the next several hours. 🙃
